Silverman, Jordan & Burlingame Selected as Max Preps/NFCA National H.S. Players of the Week
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Peyton Silverman (South Windsor H.S., South Windsor, Conn.), McKenzi Jordan (Southmont H.S., Crawfordsville, Ind.) and Makayla Burlingame (Auburn H.S., Riner, Va.) have been chosen as the MaxPreps/NFCA National High School Players of the Week for games played over June 2-8.
Silverman led the Bobcats by hitting .500 (4-for-8) with two doubles and three RBIs, while posting a 3-0 pitching mark with a 1.27 ERA and 30 strikeouts over 22 innings of work. She struck out 10 or more hitters in two of her three appearances with a high of 13 during a 3-0 shutout of Warde (Conn.). Overall, she owns a 15-4 record with a 1.05 ERA and 243 K’s over 140.1 frames, while hitting .303 with six extra-base hits and 18 RBIs.
Jordan registered a 3-0 mark from the circle for the Mounties last week, posting a no-hitter, a 1.00 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 21 innings. She also hit .667 (6-for-9) with five tallies, three doubles, a HR and three RBIs. Easily her finest performance came during a 5-0 blanking of Oak Hill (Ind.) as she tossed a no-no with 14 strikeouts while also going 2-for-2 at the dish with four runs scored, a double, a HR and an RBI. She’s currently hitting .518 overall with 33 extra-base hits and 39 RBIs, while from the circle, Jordan is 19-7 with a 1.55 ERA and 294 K’s in 167 frames.
Burlingame continued her strong play for the Eagles last week batting .545 (6-for-11) with two doubles, two HR’s and nine RBIs, while going 3-0 from the circle with 19 strikeouts over 16 innings. During an 8-7 victory over Eastside (Coeburn/St. Paul), she went 2-for-4 at the dish with two HR’s and six RBIs, while also striking out 10 in a complete-game effort. For the season Burlingame is hitting .342 with 19 RBIs and owns a 22-3 record with a 2.18 ERA and 154 K’s over 150.2 innings.

To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week’s award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions (if there are enough nominations to consider). During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.
