NAIA Postseason Award Winners Named

 The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced the Louisville Slugger/NFCA NAIA All-America, All-Region and Regional Coaching Staff of the Year award winners today.

Heather Vaughn of Emmanuel College was named the Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year and Amanda Addie of Point Loma Nazarene University was selected as the adidas Golden Shoe award winner as the nation’s steals leader. 

Point Loma Nazarene led all schools with five All-America selections. That group was led by Addie, the Golden Shoe honoree, who hit .455 on the season with 90 hits, 63 runs scored, six doubles, three triples, two home runs and 21 RBI with 51 stolen bases. She wsa named a first-team All-American as an outfielder. 

Joining Addie on the first team were second baseman Kayla Luttmers, pitcher Tyler Lent, outfielder Paige Powell and utility player Melissa Gomez. 

Luttmers hit .370 with 71 hits, 40 runs scored, five doubles, three triples, two home r uns and 37 RBI. Lent tossed a team-high 167.2 innings with a 21-8 record, 1.13 ERA and 118 strikeouts. Powell hit .389 with 75 hits, 51 runs scored, 13 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs and 52 RBI with 19 stolen bases. Her numbers for doubles, home runs and RBI led the team. Gomez hit .428 with 77 hits, 41 runs, 13 doubles, one triple, three home runs and 46 RBI. 

California Baptist checked in with four All-Americans including three first-team selections and one second-team player. 

Pitcher Amy Thomas pitched 261.0 innings for a 32-5 record with a 1.02 ERA and 184 strikeouts. Shortstop Chantal Millard led the team with a .431 batting average, 90 hits, 68 runs scored, 18 doubles, five triples and 24 stolen bases. She also had three home runs and 47 RBI on the year. California Baptist’s final first-team selection was outfielder Sara Goforth, who hit .369 with 87 hits, 64 runs scored, five doubles, four triples and 24 RBI. 

Second-team selection as an at-large/pitcher, Melanie Ahumada pitched 191.2 innings, striking out 138 with a 28-3 record and 1.79 ERA.
