DePauw's Soultz Named Louisville Slugger/Division III Player of the Week for Second Time

DePauw pitcher Megan Soultz has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week for the week ending March 30, the association announced Wednesday. This is the second such honor for the sophomore, who led the No. 3-ranked Tigers to an 8-0 week.

Soultz was a workhorse for DePauw, starting eight and winning six games, including four complete. She began the week with two shutout victories, including a three-hit, 3-0 victory over Union and a combined no-hitter, four innings of which she pitched, against Otterbein.

A day later, she gave up just one hit in a complete game 1-0 victory over Fredonia and then picked up her fourth win of the week with a five-hit complete game victory over Wisconsin-Whitewater. Soultz threw just one inning in a 13-0 victory over Oberlin and two innings in a 9-0 victory over St. Olaf.

She picked up her second win over Wisconsin-Whitewater, giving up her first earned runs of the week in a 6-3 victory and rounded the week out with 4.1 innings of no-hit ball versus MIT in the eventual 7-4 win.

On the week, the Carmel, Indiana, native pitched 39.1 innings. She gave up just 15 hits and three runs, two of them earned, while striking out 49 and walking four. The two earned runs versus Wisconsin-Whitewater ended a streak of 62.2 innings without giving up a run.
