Six Teams Undefeated on Opening Day of Junior College Leadoff Classic

 Six teams posted 2-0 records on the opening day of the 2008 NFCA Junior College Leadoff Classic on Friday afternoon. For complete opening day results, Click Here 

Leading Pool 1 is Southeastern (IA) with a 2-0 record and a +6 run differential. Southeastern will play 0-2 Meridian on Saturday morning to complete pool play. 

In Pool 2, Mississippi Gulf Coast is the lone undefeated team with a +5 run differential. They will face CCBC at 12:30 pm on Saturday. 

Pool 3 has two teams at 2-0 and a pair at 0-2. Leading the way with a 2-0 record and a +3 run differential is FCCJ, followed closely by Gulf Coast, who is also 2-0 but with a +2 run differntial. 

All four teams in Pool 4 hold a 1-1 record. Wenatchee leads with a +3 run diferential while Central Alabama and Blinn have allowed and scored the same number of runs. Miami-Dade trails with a -3 run differntial. 

Pool 5 also has a pair of undefeated and a pair of winless teams. The offensive story of the day was Pool 5’s Indian River, which scored 16 runs in its first game of the day and 17 in the nightcap for a maxed out +16 run differential. The River will face Georgia Perimeter (2-0, +5 run differential) at 12:30 pm on Saturday. 

Like Pool 4, Pool 6 also has four 1-1 teams. Wallace-Hanceville has a +6 run differential, followed by Aiken (+1), Brevard (-1) and Indian Hills (-6). 

Pool play concludes on Saturday morning with six games at 10 am and another half-dozen at 12:30 pm. Bracket play begins at 5 pm Central Time on Saturday afternoon.
