2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-America Teams Named

2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-America Teams 

STARKVILLE, Miss. — Louisiana landed three first team selections as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its 2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA High School All-America Teams Tuesday afternoon. 

John Curtis Christian High School pitcher Ashley Brignac, the Gatorade Softball Player of the Year, earned first team pitcher honors after leading her team to the state 2A title, while fellow in-state standouts Starla Guffey of St. Amant and Tiffany Shaw from Evangel Christian earned catcher and outfield slots on the first squad. 

Olathe East, the Kansas 6A champion, snagged the most selections on the three teams with first baseman Ashley Guile earning first-team honors while Eranne Daugharthy and Kristen Rock claimed honorable mention accolades. 

Justin Northwest pitcher Brittany Barnhill joined Brignac in earning first team pitcher honors along with Chelsea Plimpton of Williamsville South (N.Y.) and Kenzie Fowler from Arizona 4A-I state champion Canyon del Oro. 

Beecher (Ill.) catcher Jenna Grim claimed first team catcher honors along with Guffey. Grim’s teammate, Alex Lagesse, claimed honorable mention accolades after guiding her team to the Class A state title. 

Guffey was one of two St. Amant players named to the three teams, as Kandace Bourdreaux took designated player honors on the second team. 

Washington 4A champion Shadle Park also landed a pair of players on the teams. Outfielder Allie Burger secured a spot on the first team, joining Samantha Skillingstad, a second team pitcher, in earning all-America honors. Pearland (Texas) had Rhiannon Kliesing named to the first team in an at-large capacity. Her teammate, catcher Kelsea Orsak, joined her on the squads as she earned second team honors. 

The remainder of the first team infield slots consisted of Brittany Joseph of Delaware state champion Sussex Technical at second base, Jessica Mouse of Tampa Chamberlain (Fla.) at third base and Countryside (Fla.)’s Gionna DiSalvatore at shortstop. 

Chelsea Held of Pendleton Heights (Ind.) joined Shaw and Burger on the first team outfield, while Kelli Linke of Lincoln Public (Neb.) earned first team utility honors. Ashton Ward of Butler (N.C.) rounded out the first team with an at-large selection after leading her team to the 4A state championship.
