Tulsa's Lawrence Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of Week

Tulsa’s Jackie Lawrence has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week for the week ending Apr. 8, the association announced Wednesday.

Over a five-game week, Lawrence went 14-for-15 at the plate (.933 average) with three doubles, a triple, 11 RBIs and seven runs.

Entering the week with only three hits on the year, Lawrence had eight straight hits at one point, hitting a fly ball to left field to fall just one hit shy of snapping the NCAA record for consecutive hits.

In two wins over Central Arkansas, she went a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate with a double, triple, seven RBIs and three runs scored.

The freshman from Indianapolis opened a three-game sweep of Conference USA foe Memphis with a 3-for-4 plate performance in which she doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice.

In the second game of the series, she went 2-for-2 with another double, RBI and runs scored before closing the three-game set with a 3-for-3 outing in which she plated a run and scored another.

In addition to her stellar offensive outing, Lawrence also pitched three and two-thirds scoreless innings, striking out five in the process.
