Leslie Kagami, United States Coast Guard Academy, and Kim Jeffs, Plymouth State College, have been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Players of the Week for the week of March 16-22.

Coast Guard Academy senior third baseman Leslie Kagami was named the first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Softball Player of the Week for 2003, leading the Bears to a perfect 3-0 week. Kagami sizzled at the plate, batting an eye-popping .875 for the week (7-for-8). Leslie had four doubles, a triple and a home run to go along with five runs scored. Kagami's slugging percentage was 2.000 (16 total bases in 8 at-bats). Kagami is now first in the NEWMAC with five doubles, and tied for third in doubles per game with 0.42.

Kim Jeffs, a sophomore pitcher from Stoughton, Mass., went 8-1 with a 0.25 ERA as Plymouth State posted a 9-1 record in the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Ft. Myers, Fla. She tossed five shutouts in nine appearances (eight starts), including a five-inning no-hitter against Framingham State. For the week, Jeffs pitched 55.2 innings, allowing only 24 hits and six runs (two earned). She struck out 94 batters while walking three. Jeffs fanned at least 10 batters in her first five appearances (against Smith, Framingham State, Grinnell, Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Wheaton, Mass.), and added 11 whiffs against Brockport State. Her only loss came in extra innings after she had struck out 15 against Wheaton, the top-ranked team in New England.
