LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Manhattanville’s Aarin Hartenstein and Wheaton (Ill) College’s Katie Thornton have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III National Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Hartenstein, a freshman first baseman from Massapequa, N.Y., batted .520 (13-for-25) over the past week for the No. 21-ranked Valiants. The Plainedge High product produced seven runs, five doubles, three homers, nine RBI and five multi-hit games in a 7-1 stretch for her team.

Senior right-hander Thornton, meanwhile, went 5-0 with a 0.74 ERA, six walks and 27 strikeouts over 38 innings. The Wheaton North High graduate pitched all 13 innings of the Thunder’s first-ever sweep at North Central, allowing seven hits and fanning eight for the doubleheader. Wheaton, which continues to receive votes from the Top 25 committee, lost the lone game she didn’t start in a 5-1 week.

She had two homers in game two to become the school’s all-time home run leader (34). … Washington (Md.) College freshman pitcher/utility player Maddie Bennett tossed the first no-hitter in school history (two walks and seven strikeouts) against Swarthmore. She also excelled at the plate with a .714 average and three RBI. … New York University senior shortstop Kahala Bonsignore was 12-for-28 (.428) with 11 runs, three doubles, two homers and 10 RBI. She had three hits, three runs and two RBI in NYU’s first win over a top 25 team on Sunday against Manhattanville. … LeTourneau senior pitcher Kayla Cosby tossed a pair of shutouts against Howard Payne, allowing 11 singles and striking out 10 over 14 innings. … Belhaven senior third baseman Dani Craft hit .400 (4-for-10) with two runs, a homer and eight RBI on offense and recorded the third out of a triple play on defense. … Manhattanville sophomore pitcher Alycia Feeney was 3-1 for the week with an 1.62 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 26 innings. … Tufts sophomore pitcher Raina Galbiati was 4-0 for the week with a 0.69 ERA and allowed just six hits and no earned runs with seven strikeouts in a two-game set at Bates. … Calvin senior catcher Lydia Gildea was 12-for-19 (.632) with six runs, a double, four homers and 12 RBI. … Cabrini sophomore pitcher Jess Giordano was 4-0 for the week with a 0.63 ERA, two complete games (one shutout), two earned runs and 11 strikeouts.
