Director of Membership and Video Coordinator
Joni Schmidt joined the NFCA in January 2016 as an intern and was hired full time as the Membership Specialist in May 2016 before being elevated to her current position, Director of Membership and Video Coordinator, in May 2020. Along with “all things membership,” Schmidt was tabbed the NFCA’s first-ever video coordinator in 2019 and also serves as the Association’s High School liaison.
Schmidt leads the membership team and assists the events team in various roles - designing and implementing membership initiatives, managing membership retention, renewals, payments and in-house and on-site event registration. She oversees the online store, including a site redesign, and new inventory. Schmidt also coordinates the volunteer program and promotional gifts and giveaways at Convention.
She handles all aspects of the NFCA’s All-America Scholar-Athlete and Top-10 Team GPA award process, which sees her compile and manage a combined database of over 10,000 student-athletes and institutions each year.
In her newest role, Schmidt manages and creates all of the Association’s video content, including Leadoff Classic, Convention, education and membership promos, webinars and webinar teasers, as well as the Division II and Division III All-America Videos. She also assists in creating and providing content for the NFCA website, as well as audio visual needs at the NFCA Convention and Coaches Clinics.
As the High School liaison, Schmidt created and distributes the monthly high school newsletter, Fifth Inning Stretch, and oversees the NFCA’s High SchooI All-America process as well as all other major High School awards.
Schmidt, a homegrown Louisville resident, is the founder of the University of Louisville’s club softball program and served as the head coach of the 14U Lady Mustangs program. She graduated from Louisville in 2016 with a degree in sports management.
