Virginia Tech hurler Angela Tincher has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 27-Mar. 5, the association announced Wednesday.

Tincher went 4-0 on the week with a 0.76 ERA, allowing 10 hits and four earned runs with 75 strikeouts in 37 innings of work.

The sophomore from Eagle Rock, Va., hurled a school-best nine-inning no-hitter against Radford to start the week, and she followed in the second game with a pair of hitless innings in relief.

Tincher, who sits at 8-0 on the season, helped guide the Hokies (14-2) to a stellar showing at the UNLV Invitational. She struck out 26 batters, third-most in a single game in NCAA history, in an 11-inning win over Nevada.

Following the Nevada victory, she helped the Hokies pin the first loss of the season on No. 11 Arizona State, limiting the Sun Devils to two hits and an unearned run with three walks and 18 strikeouts in the eight-inning outing.

She closed the perfect week with a 2-1 win over UNLV. In the victory, Tincher allowed a run on three hits, three walks and tallied 10 K’s in the complete-game outing.

On the season, the sophomore is 8-0 with a 0.54 ERA. She’s allowed 15 hits, 10 runs, five earned, with 142 strikeouts to just 18 walks in 65 innings of work.
