NEARBY ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS
Looking for something to do during your down time in Las Vegas?
There’s the all-new LINQ entertainment district just steps from Bally's, which features outdoor shopping, dining and activities. The crown jewel of LINQ is the 550-foot tall High Roller, the world's largest observation wheel, which has 2,000 LED lights and provides a stunning view of Las Vegas.
Don't miss the world-famous Fountains of Bellagio, Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef, Madame Tussauds Wax Museum and the gondola ride at The Venetian, and the Roman statues that come to life at Caesar’s.
Don’t forget the lions and tigers of Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden, Dolphin Habitat and the volcano all housed at The Mirage.
There are numerous shows, with well-known talent such as Penn and Teller at the Rio, Britney Spears at Planet Hollywood, Blue Man Group at the Monte Carlo and Cirque du Soleil at ARIA. Local comedy clubs regularly feature top talent, including Lewis Black, Margaret Cho, Drew Carey and Kathy Griffin.
Have a sweet tooth? Las Vegas has that, too. Check out the 800-pound replica of the Statue of Liberty at Hershey’s Chocolate World by the New York-New York Hotel and Casino or visit M&M’s World near the MGM Grand.
If you’re more daring, try SlotZilla, the world’s first power-launched zipline, high over the Fremont Street Experience, a pedestrian mall in the downtown district. The site is also the location of a nightly, free light and sound show each hour on the 12.5-million LED light canopy.
Or you could check out the four thrill rides atop the Stratosphere Casino, Hotel and Tower: SkyJump, Insanity, X-Scream and Big Shot. SkyJump is a controlled descent off the 108th floor (829 feet high) at a scream-inducing speed. Insanity is a spin ride facing the ground at a 70-degree angle at speeds up to 3Gs on one of the mechanical arms that extend 64 feet off the edge of the tower at a height of 900 feet.
X-Scream is an 866-foot high teeter-totter that propels a small group of riders 27 feet over the edge headfirst before rocking you back the other direction. Big Shot launches riders 160 feet into the air at 45 miles an hour, going from 921 to 1,081 feet up the tower mast and back down again.
More than 39 million visitors flock to Las Vegas each year, five million of which are attending one of the more than 22,000 conventions held there. Visitors spend $6.5 billion alone annually in the casinos on the famed Strip.
