The NFCC would like to invite coaches of all levels to attend courses held in Indiana and Texas the weekend of November 13-15. This is an excellent opportunity to sharpen your offensive as well as defensive team skills.
"Advanced Analysis of Hitting, Pitching, and Short Game Skills"will be offered in Greenwood, Ind. at Take It To The Limit Softball facility.
"Position Play and Individual Defensive Skills" will be offered on the campus of Texas Woman’s University in Denton, TX.
The "Advanced Analysis of Hitting, Pitching, and Short Game Skills" course will offer you the opportunity to study the mechanics of hitting, pitching, bunting, and slapping. You will examine faults and learn fixes with live batters and pitchers. Jay Miller, Head Coach at Mississippi State University, Don Slaught, an ex Major League Baseball player and President of Right View Pro and Oregon State Head Coach, Kirk Walker will help you develop into a better hitting and pitching coach.
This course teaches you how to analyze and teach fundamental individual skills. You will:
• Study the mechanics of hitting, pitching, bunting and slapping;
• Examine skills through video and photo analysis;
• Know and identify both efficient and inefficient performances and discuss how to correct typical errors in performance.
• Learn coaching cues and drills to improve your batter's and pitcher's fundamental skills.
The "Position Play and Individual Defensive Skills" course in Denton, TX., will offer you the opportunity to analyze and learn effective methods of teaching necessary defensive skills for all softball positions. John Tschida, the head coach at St. Thomas and Kate Drohan, head coach at Northwestern University, will show you the importance of defense and how it helps you win.
In addition, participants will:
• Study the mechanics of throwing, tossing and fielding
• Examine the techniques used to cover bases, back up, check runners, retrieve balls and cut-off throws
• Identify and break down the skills required to play each defensive position
• Analyze and correct typical errors in performance
• Review and discuss situational game charts
• Accumulate drills for the practice of position play skills.
NFCC classes can be taken for personal growth and development as a coach or as an opportunity to earn continuing education units through Mississippi State University, Master Coach status, through the NFCA and/or credit toward a master’s degree in kinesiology through Texas Woman’s University.
