LOUISVILLE, Ky. –Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Laney Sheppard and Angelo State’s Meagan Hill were named 2020 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II Player and Wilson/NFCA Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their outstanding play during games played, Feb. 3-9.

Sheppard added to her NCAA Division II-best home run and RBI totals with a two-homer, 12 RBI week. Helping MSU Denver to a 5-0 mark, she hit .500 (7-for-14), slugged .929 and walked five times, which contributed to her .600 on-base percentage. Sheppard, a native of Fountain Valley, Calif., recorded a homer and four RBI versus Central Washington and added three RBI against Concordia-Portland and Northwest Nazarene. The two-time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Week registered two hits and knocked in two runs in a 7-1 triumph over St. Mary’s.

Hill, who hails from Salado, Texas, was dominant in her first two starts of the season at the Florida Tech Invite. The senior hurler tossed a no-hitter versus Molloy and allowed just two base runners in her two complete-game triumphs. Against the Lions, Hill was just a walk away from a perfect game in which she struck out 11 during a 2-0 victory. The Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week followed that performance with a one-hit shutout against No. 9 Florida Tech, fanning four and walking zero Panthers.
