    Testimonials

    • “I know the NFCA helped me become a better coach during COVID."

“I know the NFCA helped me become a better coach during COVID. Also, kept me sane. It was nice to have a schedule of things each week that were provided to us either for free or a small price for knowledge that was from the best of the best. Especially just finishing my first year as a head coach, these opportunities allowed me to learn more about things I didn't know, helped me get more insight on the areas I feel strong in, and allowed me to have conversations with other coaches across the country to help build my confidence as a coach.” — Alexis Lynn, head coach, Schreiner University
    • “The Zoom sessions provided by the NFCA were incredible."

“The Zoom sessions provided by the NFCA were incredible. It was a great opportunity to listen, learn and stay connected during an extremely challenging time.” — Mark Petryniec, head coach, Huntley High School (Ill.)
    • "I enjoyed all of the Zoom meetings."

"I enjoyed all of the Zoom meetings. I enjoyed the variety of topics discussed. Y’all covered the game, self-care, mental health, connecting with colleagues, growing your career, social injustice, LBGTQ+, and coaching clinics.” — Trena Prater, assistant coach, University of Iowa

  • Mentoring
    Mentoring Session (Convention)

    Mentoring Session (Convention)

NFCA mentoring first began at the 2010 NFCA National Convention and continues to be one of the most popular sessions offered. Coaches of all divisions join together to share ideas on how to improve as a coach and grow the game. Take part as either a mentor or mentee.

Each year at the Convention Mentoring session, mentees have the chance to receive FREE educational opportunities. Some of those prizes include: a trip to spend a few days inside the program of the Division I national champion, an NFCC course registration, future Convention registrations and NFCA memberships.
    Mentoring Triangles (Year Round)

    Mentoring Triangles (Year Round)

Building upon the success of the NFCA National Convention Mentoring sessions, we have expanded the mentoring program as a service to our members. This endeavor is the first of its kind, as coaches from around the country are placed in triangle mentoring groups based on their goals, leadership styles, strengths and self-identified areas for growth. The goal of the program is synonymous with the mission of the NFCA: To support fastpitch softball coaches in their quest for excellence, while uniting together to advance the sport we love.
Quick Out of the Box: New Head Coach Classroom

Quick Out of the Box: New Head Coach Classroom

Are you a new collegiate head coach? This program is for you! Quick Out of the Box, a curriculum for new head coaches, is designed to connect new collegiate head coaches with one another, as well as with veteran head coaches in a classroom setting. New head coaches have unique needs when it comes to mentorship. We understand that there is a very small window to successfully instill a culture when taking over a program. The goal of this educational initiative is to shorten the learning curve and help the next generation of champions thrive in their new positions.

    Testimonials

    • “My two favorite ones were the Virtual Mentoring Sessions and the Educate to Elevate series."

“My two favorite ones were the Virtual Mentoring Sessions and the Educate to Elevate series. The mentoring sessions are always one of the best parts of the Convention, but being able to have multiple of them throughout this period of time instead of just the one a year allowed me to make some really good connections and ask questions to all levels of coaches. I've made so many connections from them, it's been great! The Educate to Elevate series has been so unique because as coaches we don't deal with just softball-related things. Those webinars have been so eye-opening to the different things going on in our country and world that are kids are living through and has given me great talking points to have with my own team.” — Alexis Lynn, head coach, Schreiner University
    • “I just wanted to say how great and meaningful this program has been for me."

“I just wanted to say how great and meaningful this program has been for me. I am only going into my third year as an assistant coach with Carroll and I have learned more about coaching than I had ever hoped. They have provided me with so much knowledge and recommended so many coaching materials from books, podcasts and programs.”— Hannah Sanidas, assistant coach, Carroll University
    • “The softball world really is lucky..."

“The softball world really is lucky to have such a great association that takes care of their coaches and provides amazing opportunities for them.” — Alexis Lynn, head coach, Schreiner University
    • “The mentor sessions were incredible."

“The mentor sessions were incredible. Any opportunity to communicate with other coaches in a small group session is an incredible opportunity.” — Mark Petryniec, head coach, Huntley High School (Ill.)
    • "It’s an easy way to give back."

“I hear a lot of people talk about how they want more out of the NFCA, but they don’t know how. It’s an easy way to give back. A little time is really all that’s required. It can be incredibly beneficial to get the experience of what other people do.” — Alicia Abbott, assistant coach, Northern Illinois University
    • “I loved the wide variety of topics"

“I loved the wide variety of topics and ways the NFCA presented information. I enjoyed the mentoring sessions the best and loved the breakout rooms.” — Edith Gallagher, head coach, Mansfield University
    • “It’s (been) an invaluable experience."

“It’s (been) an invaluable experience. Seeing that Division I programs go through the same ups and downs as a small community college in Louisiana was surprising, but awesome. What I’ve gained, I know I’ll carry with me the rest of my career.”— Amanda Nordberg-Hamilton, head coach, Bossier Parish Community College
    • “To give your time to someone else is really special."

“Everybody that’s in the NFCA has so much to learn and share. To give your time to someone else is really special. At the same time, you don’t realize how much you get out of it yourself. You’re smiling because your two friends are doing really well and they’re there for me. It was really easy to talk about anything.” — Kris Ganeff, associate coach, University of Notre Dame
    • "I honestly can't fit into one email how amazing the mentoring triangle experience has been."

"I honestly can't fit into one email how amazing the mentoring triangle experience has been. Originally it started as strictly all softball talk but now we are able to communicate about whatever on a normal basis. I am coaching at a different college this year and they made the transition and the process so much easier by answering questions honestly and being so supportive, every step of the way!" — Tori Fite, assistant coach, Louisiana College
