LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Overall, 10 teams, including defending event champion Louisiana Lafayette, will battle for the tournament crown at the 18th edition of the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic slated for February 21-23, 2014, at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla.

In addition to the 2013 NCAA Super Regional-qualifying Ragin’ Cajuns, 2013 NCAA Tournament participants USF, Hofstra and James Madison join DePaul, Massachusetts, Illinois State, College of Charleston, Connecticut and Rutgers in rounding of an outstanding field.

The NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic has long established itself as one of college softball’s premier tournaments, sending seven of its 17 previous champions to Oklahoma City, Okla., for the annual Women’s College World Series.

The event will feature a round-robin style format with the championship going to the team with the best winning percentage on the weekend. In case of ties, a series of pre-determined tiebreakers will be used to decide the tournament champion. Individual performances will also be honored via the selection of both a Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Pitcher, as well as an All-Tournament team.

Single day tickets will be available for $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Full tournament passes are expected to be available for $25 for adults and $15 for children. Special group rates of $5 should also be available for groups of 10 or more youth or military personnel.
