STARKVILLE, Miss. — Texas A&M junior Megan Gibson has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week for the opening week of the 2007 campaign.
Gibson helped Texas A&M to a 5-0 start and a jump to No. 4 in the latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Pollafter hitting .727 with a pair of home runs, four RBIs and six runs scored.
The Spring, Texas, native posted a 1.273 slugging percentage as the Aggies knocked off four ranked teams at the Kajikawa Classic, including three teams ranked in the USA Today/NFCA preseason top 25.
One of her two home runs was a walk-off blast that carried the Aggies over previous-No. 1 Arizona. She also drew eight walks on the weekend.
