STARKVILLE, Miss. – Despite having its 25-game win streak snapped last week, Alabama-Huntsville topped the NFCA Division II Top 25 poll for the fifth straight edition of the rankings, the Association announced on Tuesday.
The Chargers (38-2-1) received all 16 first-place votes this week, marking only the second time this season that a team has accomplished the feat. Alabama-Huntsville also became the first team of 2011 to be a unanimous No. 1 pick only two weeks ago.
In the rest of the top five, Peach Belt Conference champions North Georgia (47-9) held on to the second spot, while Midwestern State (43-7) stayed put at third. The only change to the first five this week came in the final two positions where Rollins moved up to fourth and forced Valdosta down to fifth.
Last week’s No. 20 California (PA) and No. 25 Tiffin both fell out of the latest rankings, making room for Flagler and C.W. Post to re-enter the fray at 23rd and 24, respectively.
The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by 16 NCAA Division II head coaches, two representing each of the eight NCAA regions.
