MaxPreps-HS-logoSTARKVILLE, Miss. - Seniors Shayna Kimbrough of Frontier High School in Bakersfield, Calif. and Lauren Wolfe of Durant High School in Plant City, Fla. and junior Gabby Garcia of Poteet High School in Poteet, Texas have all been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through March 7, 2011.

Representing the West Region, Kimbrough started all six games at shortstop for the 6-0 Titans this season. She currently leads her team in almost all offensive categories, with a .765 batting average, .714 on-base percentage, and a 1.059 slugging percentage. In 21 plate appearances this past week Kimbrough racked up 13 hits with seven RBIs and seven runs scored. She has had multiple hit games in five out of the last six games highlighted by a 2-3 performance against Golden Valley with two doubles and two runs scored.

From the South Region, Wolfe a pitcher and shortstop, is a perfect 5-0 for the Cougars in the circle this season and owns a .77 ERA. Pitching two complete games last week against Riverview and Plant City, the senior held both teams scoreless for shutouts number two and three of her season. Over in town rival Plant City, she was outstanding facing only 25 batters, striking out six and scattering four hits in an 81 pitch effort. The senior is also taking advantage of her opportunities at the plate this year, going 2-3 in an outing against Tampa Bay Tech in a 14-0 win.

South Central Region honoree, Garcia leads the Poteet Aggies this season hitting an impressive .667, with an on-base percentage of .721 and a slugging percentage of .980. At the plate last week, the junior was 18-22 with two doubles and two triples. She was equally outstanding on the basepaths, with 10 stolen bases in 11 attempts. Although primarily a shortstop, Garcia also has seen some time in the circle this season. She is a perfect 3-0 earning a big win last week over San Antonio Christian.

The NFCA High School Players of the Week, one for each high school region, will be announced by the Association on www.nfca.infocus-llc.com every Monday during the spring season.
