World Cup Of Softball VIOKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — Nineteen international softball games, including the slow pitch Border Battle III, will take place July 21-25 during the World Cup of Softball VI in Oklahoma City, the Amateur Softball Association (ASA) of America announced today. For the sixth run of the tournament, Oklahoma City welcomes the top women’s fast pitch teams in the world: Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Japan and the United States. Men’s slow pitch teams from Canada and the USA will also play in Oklahoma City. 

The action kicks off at 10 a.m. at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium with Czech Republic, 2009 European Softball Federation (ESF) Women’s Championship Bronze Medalists, taking on 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist Australia. After four full days of competition, the championship action starts July 25 with the Fifth Place Game at 1 p.m., the Third Place Game at 4 p.m. and the Championship Game at 8 p.m. A complete game schedule for the World Cup VI and Border Battle III is below. 

“We are excited to again welcome the world to Oklahoma City,” ASA Executive Director Ron Radigonda said. “Since the inaugural World Cup of Softball in 2005, the event has continued to establish itself as the premier tournament in international softball. Every game features the sport’s best athletes and is testament to the high level of competition in international softball today.” 

All-session tickets, which are $275 and $325 for the Ultimate Fan Zone seating in the first three rows of the stadium, $75 for other reserved seating and $40 for general admission seating, can be purchased online now at SoftballOutlet.com or by calling 800-654-8337. Single session general admission tickets are expected to go on sale July 5, 2011. 

The Ultimate Fan Zone package also includes a private autograph session and meal with the 2011 USA Softball Women’s National Team, tentatively scheduled for Sunday morning and only open to Ultimate Fan Zone ticket holders, as well free parking and a replica USA Softball jersey. For an additional $50 (a total price of $325), Ultimate Fans can upgrade to an authentic Nike jersey.

The schedule and game times are subject to change. 

The Women’s National Team will be named in June following the National Team Selection Camp, June 13-17, at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. The names of the approximately 40 athletes selected to try out for the team will be released prior to camp. 

In February, ASA released the names of the 15 athletes selected for the 2011 USA Softball Men’s Slow Pitch National Team, which will compete in the Border Battle III.
