Bellevue Community College head coach Leah Francis and assistant Rita Roach have been named the 2005 Speedline/NFCA NWAACC Coaching Staff of the Year, the association announced Friday. 

Francis, in her first season at the school, took a team that finished 8-32 a year ago to a 30-13 mark and the first North Division title in school history. 

She was named North Division Coach of the Year as she took her team to the NWAACC Tournament in Portland, Ore., where it fell to Olympic and eventual champion Clackamas. 

Francis and her assistants will be honored at the 2005 NFCA National Convention Nov. 30-Dec. 3 in Orlando, Fla.
