STARKVILLE, Miss. – Junior outfielder April Setterlund of Boston University has been named as the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for games played between March 22-28.
Setterlund was nearly perfect on the week by going 13-for-14 at the plate, including 12 consecutive hits, with eight runs, 17 RBIs, two doubles, one triple, four homeruns, two stolen bases and five walks.
The Torrance, Calif., native set two new school single-game records and tied another all in one game versus Holy Cross. Setterlund hit two homeruns, took 10 total bases and recorded eight RBIs in game one of the doubleheader against the Crusaders to set new single-game marks in the total base and RBI categories, while tying the record for home runs. The junior outfield also belted two homers in the second game versus Holy Cross to tie the record again.
For the week, Setterlund posted a .929 batting average, a .947 on-base percentage and a 2.071 slugging percentage. She has now had a hit in each of 10 consecutive games and has a .597 batting average for the season.
The Terriers are currently 15-10 on the year and are on a five-game winning streak.
