CLEARWATER, Fla. – On another beautiful sun-splashed day at the Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex in Clearwater, Fla., 52 teams that started the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top Recruit Tournament with a chance of taking home hardware were whittled down to just 26 on Saturday as bracket play commenced in 18-under Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper brackets and 16-under Gold, Silver and Bronze brackets. 

Sunday’s championship action in the 18-U Gold winner’s bracket is slated to begin on fields 8 & 9 at 8 a.m. ET.  The Bartow Intimidators (4-0) edged Gainesville Gold Dunn by a 2-1 (8 inn.) count in the quarterfinals and are slated to face-off in the semifinals against the Clearwater Lady Bombers Gold (3-0-1 – topped Lady Gators-Jackson in the quarterfinals, 9-4).  The Sarasota Heat (3-0-1), after defeating the Gold Coast Hurricanes in the quarters, 2-1, will battle the Tampa Mustangs Gold-Conway (4-0 – edged New Era Diamond Girls Gold in the quarters, 6-5) in the semis with berths in the Gold bracket title tilt on the line.

In 16-U Gold winner’s bracket semifinal action scheduled for fields 2 & 3 at 10 a.m. ET Sunday, USA Patriots Gold (4-0 – downed Florida Power in the quarters, 2-1) will meet Brewers (3-1 – outlasted Tampa Mustangs-TJ, 3-2 in 8 inn.) while Florida Select-Hartsell (4-0 – defeated High Intensity 16 in the quarters, 5-1) faces the Tampa Mustangs-Ryan (3-0-1 – downed Gainesville Gold-Silverman in the quarters, 10-8).
