Oklahoma City, OK---As the result of a determination by an internal Appeal Committee following the invitation of twelve (12) coaches to the USA Softball National Team Festival to be held in Chula Vista beginning May 30, 2001, the USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Committee will be re-evaluating each of the thirty-four (34) applicants for selection to the Women's National Team Coaches' Pool. The Selection Committee will again select twelve (12) coaches to attend the National Team Festival.
The applicants were previously asked to provide information regarding: a) national playing and/or coaching experience; b) international playing and/or coaching experience; c) relevant clinic and/or speaking engagements; d) reasons the applicant wanted to be a member of the pool; and e) a minimum of three (3) references including names, addresses, and appropriate contact numbers. Information regarding these topics which was previously submitted to the Selection Committee or which the Committee was previously made aware of, in whatever form, will be considered in the re-evaluation process. Due to the limited time available to conduct the re-evaluations, the Committee may not contact all references given. In addition to the above categories of information, the Committee will also consider the applicant's reputation, their previously known relationships with players and other coaches, and the intended direction for the Women's National Team. Their evaluation process will take place as soon as possible and the applicants will be notified of the Selection Committee decision as soon as practical after the decisions are made. Applicants who are not selected to attend the National Team Festival can submit specific questions to the Selection Committee inquiring about the CommitteeÕs decision regarding their specific application and the Selection Committee will respond to the inquiry in writing. Applicants should refer to ASA Code Article 405 for information regarding the appeal process. The official copy of the ASA Code can be found on the ASA website.
