Massachusetts pitcher Jenna Busa has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week for the week of May 2-8, it was announced by the association on Wednesday. 

Busa, a junior from Lexington, Mass., went 3-0 in the circle last week and 5-for-7 (.714) at the plate to lead the Minutewomen to wins over Boston University, Rhode Island and Quinnipiac. 

"This is very unexpected and I am extremely honored," said Busa. "We had a great 
week and the team has really come together as we head into our conference 
tournament." 

Busa tossed a no-hitter in consecyive starts against Rhose Island and Quinnipiac, and went 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs in the 9-0 win over the Rams. Her first career home run came just three days before in a 4-3 win over Boston University. 

"This is a very deserving honor for an incredible accomplishment," said UMass head coach Elaine Sortino. "She had an amazing week both in the circle and at the plate and I am so proud of her." 

Busa now has three no-hitter on her career, and is 11-1 this season with a 0.89 ERA in her last 13 starts. She hopes to leads UMass to a 17th Atlantic 10 championship, as the Minutewomen open play at the Atlantic 10 tournament this weekend against St. Joseph's.
