Central Washington pitcher Sara Badgley has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 28-March 6.

Badgley, a sophomore from Montesano, Wash., broke CWU’s single-game record for strikeouts twice last weekend at the CWU/Red Lion Hotel Invitational. On Friday against Western Washington, she struck out 13 in a 4-3 win, then fanned 14 in a 4-0 no-hitter against Western Oregon.

The no-hitter was just the second in the program’s 13-year history. For the weekend, she made five appearances and struck out 46 batters in 23 innings pitched. She allowed opposing hitters to hit just .043 against her. Badgley also picked up two saves on the weekend.

On the season, Badgley is 4-3 with a 1.94 ERA. She has registered two shutouts and leads the team with 61 strikeouts.
