Chinese Taipei secured its 2008 Olympic berth by sweeping New Zealand to notch a perfect record and win the Asia/Oceania Olympic qualifier. 

Chinese Taipei becomes the sixth team to earn a berth in the 2008 Games hosted by Beijing, China, joining the host country, Australia, Canada, Japan, and the United States. 

The other two participants in the 2008 Olympic Softball competition will be determined at the following regional qualifiers: 

— Africa/Europe: June 9-16 in Trieste, Italy 
— Americas: August 18-26 in Caracas, Venezuela
