LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hanna Contreras of Concordia (Texas) University and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps’ Hayley Schultz have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

 

Contreras, a freshman infielder for the (12-11) Tornados, had a .636 average (7-of-11) with three doubles, three home runs and 12 runs batted in in a 3-0 week for her school. The Austin, Texas, native fueled Concordia’s three-game American Southwest Conference sweep of Howard Payne with a pair of 3-for-4 games. She had two doubles, a homer and six RBI in the opening game and capped the series with a double, homer and five RBI, after going 1-for-3 with a homer in the middle contest.

Schultz, a junior right-hander from Los Angeles, went 4-0 for the (14-7) Athenas, who rejoined the NFCA Division III Top 25 Poll in the others receiving votes category after a 7-1 week. She had a microscopic 0.27 earned-run average and 21 strikeouts in 26 innings. Schultz tossed a four-hitter and three-hitter to beat then-No. 4 Central twice, and also fanned nine batters in a victory over Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Western Connecticut State sophomore pitcher Emily Cintorino went 4-0 for the week with a 0.58 ERA, allowing one hit over the first four innings of a win over Macalester and one hit over the final four innings of a triumph over Bowdoin. … Babson senior pitcher Kathleen Conway was 4-0 with a save and a 0.67 ERA. She struck out 44 in 31.1 innings and had two three-hitters. … Keene State sophomore pitcher Mariah Crisp was 3-2 for her five starts, compiling a 0.57 ERA and allowing three earned runs over 36.2 innings while striking out 56. She had two double-digit strikeout games, including a season-high 15 in a complete-game shutout of McDaniel. … Moravian junior first baseman Jenn Dalickas batted .500 (10-of-20) with two doubles, two homers and five RBI, and hit safely in all six of her team’s games. She had a two-run walkoff homer against Misericordia and compiled a .900 slugging percentage and a .525 on-base average. … Montclair State senior pitcher Alex Hill was 2-0 with a save and a flawless 0.00 ERA. She recorded 30 strikeouts and no walks over 15 innings of work, and pitched a perfect game against Centenary (N.J.). with a school-record 18 strikeouts. Hill then retired the first seven hitters in a two-hit shutout of Susquehanna to run her consecutive batters-retired streak to 32 and held opposing batters to a .043 average for the week. … Thiel senior outfielder Ali House went 4-for-7 for her week with three RBI to accompany her .571 average. … Texas-Tyler freshman pitcher Alaina Kissinger went 3-0 with two two-hitters (one against then-No. 5 East Texas Baptist), a four-hitter (against then-No. 10 Linfield) and a 0.73 ERA. Marywood freshman third baseman/designated player Brook Labs hit .875 (7-of-8) with three doubles and five RBI in a 2-0 week for her team. … Mississippi College junior shortstop Macey Lee went 12-for-18 (.667) with two doubles, two triples, eight RBI and four steals in four attempts as her team notched five straight shutouts. … Lebanon Valley sophomore pitcher Haley Neff was 2-0 for the week with a 1.75 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 12 innings. She pitched a two-hitter against Widener and also hit .800 (4-of-5) at the plate with three doubles, a homer and seven RBI. … Wisconsin-Eau Claire junior third baseman/designated player Taylor Pierce hit .520 (13-of-25) with three doubles, five RBI, six runs scored and a .571 on-base average. … William Paterson freshman pitcher Allison Podmajersky was 1-1 with a 0.39 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 18 innings. She fanned 13 over 11 innings in a 2-1 loss to Wisconsin-Stevens Point. … Westminster senior first baseman Lauren Stoczynski was 9-for-13 (.692) with four RBI and a pair of 3-for-4 games to amass a .733 on-base percentage and a .692 slugging average. … Thiel senior pitcher Morgan White tossed a no-hitter in her one appearance, collecting five strikeouts over seven innings.
