The Bruins (50-11), who return seven starters from last year’s squad, received 27 of 30 first place votes in the preseason poll and beat out fellow Pac-10 member and National Runner-Up Arizona (52-14) by 23 points.
Rounding out the top five was a trio of SEC schools, all of which also made it to last year’s Women’s College World Series. Georgia (50-13), Tennessee (49-15) and Florida (49-10) were third through fifth, respectively in the poll and were followed by another SEC school, Alabama (52-11) at sixth.
Coming in at seventh and eighth in the poll was another pair of 2010 WCWS qualifiers in Missouri (51-13) and Hawaii (50-15), while Oklahoma (47-12) and Washington (50-9) filled out the last two spots in the Top 10.
