Southwestern Oregon sophomore Shevan DeFreitas and Lower Columbia sophomore Jessica Gibson were named the NWAC Softball Players of the Week for contests played May 1-7. Additionally, DeFreitas was selected the Softball Under Armour Player of the Week.

DeFreitas, a pitcher and first baseman, helped lead the No. 2 Lakers to eight straight victories last week. She hit .583 (14-for-24) with five doubles, a triple, four home runs, 16 RBI and 17 runs scored. DeFreitas drew eight walks and was hit twice, while not striking out in 34 plate appearances. In the circle, she recorded a pair of saves.

Pitcher of the Week Gibson of Rainier, Ore. recorded a no-hitter and collected a total of three wins on the week.
