CLEARWATER, Fla. – With only Sunday’s action remaining in the 2014 NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic at the Eddie C. Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla., DePaul and USF remain as the lone undefeated squads at 4-0 & 3-0, respectively.

DePaul began its Saturday by quickly finishing off an 8-0 (5 inn.) triumph over Connecticut in the resumption of Friday’s rain-delayed contest. The Blue Demons rode that momentum throughout the rest of the day with a 10-6 win over Rutgers and a heart-stopping rally past College of Charleston, 9-8 (8 inn.). During its final match-up of the day against the Cougars, DU trailed 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth before rallying for two runs in that frame and five in the seventh to send the match-up to extra innings.

USF completed its own rain-delayed contest early Saturday morning with the finish of a commanding 5-0 win over Illinois State. The Bulls followed up that effort with a 3-0 blanking of James Madison and an 8-5 victory over No. 20 Louisiana Lafayette.

Hofstra and College of Charleston each possess 2-1 marks, while James Madison and the nationally-ranked Ragin’ Cajuns both sit at 2-2. Only Connecticut (0-4) has failed to win a game out of 10 participants at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic.

Play kicks-off bright and early on Sun., Feb. 23, with a pair of make-up games (from Friday’s postponed 5 p.m. round) at 9 a.m. ET as USF battles Hofstra and Rutgers faces the College of Charleston.

The NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic features a round-robin style format with the championship going to the team with the best winning percentage on the weekend.  In case of ties, a series of pre-determined tiebreakers will be used to decide winners.  Individual performances will also be honored at the tournament with a Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Pitcher award, as well as an All-Tournament team.

Single day tickets are available for $10 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Full tournament passes will also be available for $25 for adults and $15 for children.
