LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The DePauw duo of Taylor Golden and Emma Baldwin have been selected as the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

 

Golden, a senior third baseman from Chicago, Ill., hit .455 (5-for-11) with two doubles, two homers and seven runs batted in, as the Tigers opened the season 4-0. In the second game of a doubleheader against Rhodes, she was 4-for-4 with two doubles, a homer and four RBI.

Freshman pitcher Baldwin, meanwhile, started a perfect 2-0, with 21 strikeouts and five walks, eight hits and three runs (two earned) for an 1.00 earned-run average over her first 14 collegiate innings. The Oak Park, Ill., native fanned 10 in a 4-3 win over Rhodes and struck out 11 in a 2-0 victory over Maryville.

Brandeis junior second baseman Madison Gagnon hit .500 (2-for-4) with a triple, four runs, six RBI and two walks in a pair of lopsided wins over Mount Ida. She was responsible for 10 of her team’s 16 runs in the two games. … Pacific junior pitcher Marissa Reichard was 2-0 for the week with 14 strikeouts, 12 hits, four runs (one earned) and 12 walks in 12 innings. She had six strikeouts in a 7-2 win over Northwest Christian and eight in a 3-2 triumph over Northwest (Wash.). She drove in the winning run with a hit in her lone plate appearance of the week against Northwest. … Pacific junior second baseman Rachel Roberts was 6-for-14 (.429) with a triple, two RBI, four runs, two walks and six steals in seven attempts in a 4-0 week for her school. She went 2-for-3 in the first of two games against Northwest Christian and 3-for-4 in the first game of a twinbill against Northwest (Wash.), while recording eight putouts and five assists in a perfect week in the field. … Brandeis sophomore pitcher Samantha Wroblewski retired 12 straight (eight by strikeout) after allowing a bloop single to open a win over Mount Ida, the lone hit she allowed over six innings with no walks. She recorded two strikeouts in two innings in her other appearance.
