The third game of the day got underway about three hours late due to a rain
delay following game one this morning. This game got started with hard
drizzle falling. Salisbury came out swinging, though, scoring two runs in
the bottom of the first after the bases were loaded on a balk, a walk, and an
intentional walk. Kristy Shaffer singled up the middle to score the runs. The
Sea Gulls continued to control the game in the bottom of the third with a
three-run bomb by Leslie White to left field that gave Salisbury a 5-0 lead.
Again, in the bottom of the fourth, Salisbury loaded the bases on a bunt from
Gentilella, a Kate Garland walk, and a Rosie Aley base hit to center field.
Kristy Shaffer walked in the Sea Gulls' sixth run, but Salisbury left three
stranded in the bottom of the fourth after Central's left fielder Holly
Edwards caught a long fly ball hit by Leslie White. Not only were the
Salisbury bats hot, but the team's defense was outstanding. In the sixth
inning, Central's Bri Kuyper hit a hit pop up between the mound and the
circle that was caught by Kim Rememter in a diving catch that looked like
the ball would bounce out of her glove. She immediately popped up and put out
the runner at first for a double play. Lacey Lister took Central down in
three in the top of the seventh to end the game. The most runs Central has
allowed all season is four. Salisbury will play Sunday at 5 p.m. against
Emory or Illinois Wesleyan. Central advances to the elimination bracket and
will play Wartburg at noon on Sunday.

CENTRAL HEAD COACH GEORGE WARES ON PLAYING SALISBURY: "They kicked our
butts. They played very, very well. Tonight they were clearly better than us.
We probably were shell shocked."

WARES ON MILLER'S TWO ILLEGAL PITCHES THAT GOT HER YANKED
after just four pitches: "She's had this problem off and on her whole
career. Maybe we pulled the trigger too soon. It's just one of those things."
(Miller was officially called for her ball presentation; she put the ball in
her glove, which the rules state is the official start of the pitch, then
pulled it out to dry it off.)

LIBBY HYSELL ON COMING IN TO RELIEVE APRIL MILLER IN THE FIRST inning: "I was
ready. I had been throwing before the game. I should have been completely
ready."

SALISBURY HEAD COACH MARGIE KNIGHT ON HOW THE TEAM PLAYED: "We did it all.
We left a few too many runners on base (Salisbury left 10 runners stranded).
Central is a super opponent. I felt we had to come out aggressive; Central is
extremely aggressive and we've been aggressive all season."

LESLIE WHITE ON THE THREE-RUN HOMER THAT GAVE SALISBURY A 5-0 LEAD: "It felt
great!"

CATCHER KIM REMENTER ON HER DIVING DOUBLE PLAY: "The team was already very
high and this just added to it. I just wanted to get up and get her out.
Lacey and I work well together."

LACEY LISTER ON HER NINE STRIKEOUT GAME: "I'm nothing without my team.
They are me and I am them. I'm never in a true comfort zone. I may not look
nervous, but inside the butterflies are always moving."
