Lock Haven sophomore pitcher/first baseman Kristin Erb has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II Player of the Week for the week ending Apr. 15, the association announced Wednesday.

The honor is the second of the 2007 campaign for the 2006 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American and the third of her career. It is the third honor this season for the Lady Eagles, as Ilia Lopez earned the accolade on Mar. 28.

Erb guided top-ranked LHU to a 8-0 week, going 6-0 in the circle with three shutouts. She allowed two runs on 17 hits for a 0.42 ERA while striking out 40 and walking just three.

She helped her own cause as well, hitting .391 (9-for-23) with five doubles, eight RBIs and three runs scored.

The Reading, Pa., native opened the week with a nine-hit, complete-game victory of California (Pa.) in which she allowed her only runs of the week. Against California, she also went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs in the opening game of the two-game set.

She followed that outing with a one-hit shutout of Slippery Rock before limiting Edinboro to five hits over 10 innings in a doubleheader sweep. She had another big offensive outing against Slippery Rock, collecting two hits over three at-bats and driving in four runs.

Erb closed the week by leading the Lady Eagles to a pair of wins over Indiana (Pa.). In the opener, she went the distance and hurled a no-hitter that included five strikeouts. She followed that outing with another four innings in which she scattered two hits and walked three.
