NFCA/MaxPreps HS POTWSTARKVILLE, Miss. –Senior Alicia Miller of Bishop Brossart High School in Alexandria, Ky., juniors Taylor Secemski of Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., Devin Williams of Jupiter High School in Jupiter, Fla., Bella Parnell of New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly High School in New Berlin, Ill., and sophomore Carly Mertens of Baldwin High School in Baldwin, N.Y. have all been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through March 28, 2011.

From the South Central Region, Miller had an auspicious debut to her season as she tossed a perfect game against Calvary Christian. The senior struck out the first 13 batters she faced and retired the last batter on an assist. Miller picked up 2 other wins on the week to finish 3-0. Miller has yet to walk a batter and currently owns an ERA of 0.00, holding opposing batters to a .109 batting average while striking out 29.

With teams in the East Region getting underway, Mertens went 2-0 on the mound this week holding opposing hitters to a .208 average while striking out 14 in 19 innings pitched. On the week, she went 6-8 at the plate with 2 homeruns, five extra base hits, and 10 RBI.

Representing the North Region Parnell led the Scotties/Pretzels to a perfect 2-0 to start. In the season opener against Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg the junior was perfect at the plate and just a double short of hitting for the cycle, going 4-4 with a triple, home run, two runs scored and an RBI. On the week the junior hit .857 with five runs scored, three RBI and an overall slugging percentage of 1.571.

In the West Region, Secemski helped the Sabercats to a 4-2 record this past week in the Desert Mountain tournament. Offensively, the junior hit .636 with 10 RBI, three doubles, a home run and three runs scored. In the circle against Chandler she pitched a complete game shutout striking out 11 in the process.

South Region honoree, Williams helped improve the Warriors to 13-2 overall and a 6-1 league record. This past week the junior went 9-12 with six runs scored, four RBI, two triples and two doubles. On the season, Williams leads her team with a .478 batting average, .630 slugging percentage and .478 OBP.
