Florida Southern and St. Cloud State both rebounded from Saturday losses and earned a trip to this week’s NCAA Division II national tournament in Orlando, Fla.
Florida Southern defeated Alabama-Huntsville 6-2 in Lakeland, Fla., avenging an earlier loss to the Chargers. A three-run home run from Sarah Kohlbrenner in the sixth inning gave the Moccasins a comfortable win in the regional final.
St. Cloud State defeated upset-minded Concordia- St. Paul 1-0 as regional MVP Nicole Webb tossed a two hit shutout to give the Huskies the win. Cally Stewart hit a solo home run in the fourth inning for the game’s only run.
St. Cloud State will face Northern Kentucky on Thursday while Florida Southern will play top-ranked Kennesaw State. Other first round matchups include Caldwell vs. Western New Mexico and Shippensburg vs. Angelo State.
