Fort Bend Elkins (Missouri City, Texas) upped its winning streak to 72 games and remained No. 1 in the latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll.
The Knights, 33-0 heading into the Texas 5A playoffs, edged out in-state rival Keller, which is 27-2 on the season. Unbeaten University (Palm Harbor, Fla.) is third, followed by Central Cabarrus (Concord, N.C.), winners of 42 consecutive games, third longest in the nation.
Florida powerhouse Bartow is fifth, followed by Tomball (Texas), Valencia (Calif.), Corona (Calif.) and El Dorado (Placentia, Calif.) St. John Vianney (Holmdel, N.J. has won 47 consecutive games and rounds out the top ten.
Sabino (Tucson, Ariz.), the top team from the Arizona prep ranks is 11th, followed by Chamberlain (Tampa, Fla.), Cactus (Glendale, Ariz.) and Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.)
Lee (Midland, Texas) is 15th, followed by unbeaten Lakewood Ranch (Fla.) St. Amant (La.) is No. 17, followed by Garland (Texas), Pacifica (Garden Grove, Calif.) and Orange Park (Fla.).
The last five ranked teams are Pace (Fla.), Canyon del Oro (Tucson, Ariz.), South Florence (S.C.), Oakdale (Calif.) and Osbourn (Manassas, Va.).
