Cal State Fullerton senior pitcher Candice Baker has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week for the week ending Mar. 4, the association announced Wednesday.
Baker helped the Titans to a 4-1 record on the week as she posted a 3-0 record that included wins over nationally ranked Stanford and Oregon State.
A two-time NFCA All-West Region performer, Baker tossed her first collegiate no-hitter as the Titans trumped Stanford 1-0. She followed that with 5 2/3 innings of no-hit ball against the Beavers as she led the Titans to another 1-0 win.
Baker allowed just a single run and four hits over 21 innings. She also struck out 20 batters on the weekend as she moved to 3-1 against ranked foes this season.
The win over Oregon State gave Baker her third straight victory and fourth in her last five starts.
