Geri Ann Glasco Memorial Scholarship, nfca, Danielle Kenton, Ferris State University, nfca scholarship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The NFCA is pleased to announce Danielle Kenton of Ferris State University is the 2023 recipient of the Geri Ann Glasco Memorial Scholarship, created in partnership with the Natasha Watley Foundation and the Glasco family. Kenton will receive funding to attend the 2023 NFCA National Convention, Dec. 6-9 in the NFCA’s hometown of Louisville.

The scholarship is awarded to a female member coach who shows a commitment to growing the game of fastpitch in her community and has a need for financial assistance to attend the Convention. It is dedicated to remembering Glasco, an aspiring coach and elite former student-athlete, who lost her life on Jan. 24, 2019 in Lafayette, La.

“Dani has and eagerness and desire to learn more about the game,” said head coach Jake Schumann. “She is out in the public growing our camps & clinics locally as well as connecting with state-wide club coaches to sell our brand.”

Kenton is in her seventh season as the program’s assistant coach and has helped the Bulldogs to three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament appearances. Prior to Ferris State, she served one season as an assistant coach at Fort Scott Community College, working closely with catchers, infielders and hitters. Additionally, she was instrumental in running strength and conditioning workouts, while assisting with field maintenance, gameday preparation, fundraising and community service initiatives.

A graduate of Fort Scott CC and Kansas State University, Kenton was a collegiate catcher at Fort Scott CC and played club softball at Kansas State. At KSU, she served as the head coach of the National Club Softball Association Squad, organizing and running all team practices and facilitating game strategy and instruction.

Kenton will be recognized on Thursday, Dec. 7 during the Convention’s annual mentoring workshop.
