No. 3 Hawaii Pacific 1, No. 19 Angelo State 0 (10 Innings) | Box ScoreBox Score

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - No. 3 Hawaii Pacific scored on a miscue in the 10th inning to break a scoreless tie and top No. 19 Angelo State, 1-0, in a winner's bracket game at the 2010 NCAA DII Championships at Heritage Park in St. Joseph.

The game-winning play came in the top of the 10th inning when junior Kozy Toriano scored after Angelo catcher Kacie Easley overthrew second in an attempt to catch freshman Malia Killam stealing.

Although Hawaii Pacific (48-8) emerged victorious, Angelo was not without chances in the game. The Rambelles left a total of eight runners on base in the contest, including three in the bottom of the seventh.

Despite the mistake by Angelo (49-14), both pitchers gave command performances for the full 10 innings. Seniors Sherise Musquiz of Hawaii Pacific and Chelsea Nelson of Angelo State both threw complete games and both allowed six hits each. Musquiz finished the game with four strikeouts and improved to 32-3, while Nelson recorded five strikeouts and dropped to 28-9.

Hawaii Pacific now advances to Sunday's second semi-final where they will meet either No. 4 Metro State, No. 7 Wayne State (MI) or No. 1 North Georgia at 2:30 p.m. CDT. Meanwhile, Angelo State returns to play on Saturday where they will take on the winner of an earlier elimination game between No. 6 Bloomsburg and Molloy at 5 p.m. CDT.
