Humboldt State freshman first baseman Natalie Galletly has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II Player of the Week for the week of April 17-23, the association announced Wednesday.
In eight games last week, the rookie from San Ramon, Calif., hit .667 (16-for-24) with 13 RBIs, eight runs scored, six doubles, a triple, and a home run.
In a four-game set with Northwest Nazarene, Galletly had nine hits in 13 at-bats, doubled three times and drove in seven runs while scoring four times herself. The final game of the series she hit .500 and hit a home run as she drove in four runs.
She followed that series with a stellar four-game set against Western Oregon. In the opening game she keyed the top-ranked Lumberjacks with a 3-for-4 plate performance that included a double and a run scored.
She kept the hot hand in the second game of the twin bill, going 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs to key HSU to a 12-1 win.
After collecting a hit, an RBI and another run in the third game of the four-game set, she exploded in the series finale with a 2-for-2 plate performance that included a double, triple two RBIs and two runs scored.
Over the eight-game stretch, the Lumberjacks out-scored their opponents 77-8 to move their overall record to 45-4.
