LOUISVILLE, Ky. – NFCA CEO Carol Bruggeman with the support of the Board of Directors is pleased to announce the hiring of Katelyn Rockwood as the Association’s Outreach Manager.
Rockwood is no stranger to the NFCA team. Serving as the Association’s intern since August 2023, Rockwood has taken on a wide array of projects and worn many hats, which has allowed her to gain valuable knowledge.
Over her two years, she has been an integral part of the Social Media and Membership teams, taking the lead on various social media projects, including coverage at numerous NFCA on-site events, in addition to assisting in membership retention via monthly new-member and expired-member updates. Additionally, Rockwood has been main contact for the NFCA StrikeOut Cancer program this academic year and spearheaded multiple community service projects.
“I’m honored to join the NFCA as Outreach Manager and contribute to an organization that leads with passion, integrity, and a deep commitment to growing the game and supporting coaches,” said Rockwood. “I’ve been a part of many great teams, and the NFCA team is certainly one of them. I’m excited to help build meaningful connections and advance the sport we all love.”
In her new role, Rockwood will continue to serve as the Association’s lead with StrikeOut Cancer and community service projects, as well as an advanced role leading the Social Media team.
Rockwood is no stranger to service. She works with the I CAN (Camps, Academics, Needs) Foundation, which offers Christ-centered resources and experiences to help people turn obstacles into opportunities. Featured in the film, “I Can,” Rockwood travels around the country sharing her testimony on how despite being born with a limb difference, she has never accepted that she can’t do something and went on to be a strong young woman with a talent for softball. She also teaches special-needs adults at her church, First Capital Christian Church.
"Katelyn has earned this opportunity,” said Bruggeman. “She has always had a 'can do' attitude, a passion for the sport of softball, and a strong commitment to serve others. These attributes have served Katelyn well as an NFCA intern and will continue to guide her professional development as our Outreach Manager. Our NFCA team looks forward to working with her to enhance the softball coaching profession and our sport overall."
A native of Lanesville, Ind., Rockwood is a graduate of Kentucky Christian University with a bachelor degree in business (sports management concentration) and a master’s in christian leadership. She was a three-year starting outfielder for the Knights, earning NFCA All-Region and NCCAA All-America honors in 2021 and NCCAA All-Region recognition in 2022. Prior to that, Rockwood played her freshman season at Cincinnati Christian University. Rockwood resides in New Salisbury, Ind. with her husband Kevin and their dog Nash.
