Auburn pitcher Kristen Keyes has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Player of the Week for the week of April 19-25.
Keyes, a senior from Clearwater, Fla., has helped Auburn to its best season in school history. The Tigers are 35-13 overall and ranked No. 15 in the latest USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll.
Keyes earned all three of Auburn's wins last week as the Tigers won the series against Alabama and split with LSU. She has posted an 8-2 mark against teams ranked in the top 15 over the last month.
She tossed a complete game no-hitter in Auburn's 4-0 series-opening victory over Alabama. It was her third conference no-hitter of the season, one more than the rest of the league's pitchers combined.
In the second game against the Crimson Tide, Keyes came in relief and allowed just one hit over 1 1/3 innings as Auburn won 3-2. She scattered three hits in a complete game, 2-1 victory over SEC-leading LSU on Saturday.
The three hits allowed was the second fewest of the season for LSU, the fourth best hitting team in the nation. It was the highest-ranked team that Auburn had ever defeated. The win was also her 21st of the season, tying the school's single-season record for victories.
On the season, Keyes is 21-9 with a 1.15 ERA. She has 241 strikeouts in 183 innings pitched, and has tossed 19 complete games including ten shutouts.
