St. Mary's pitcher/first baseman Kym Kling has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II Player of the Week for the week of March 15-21.
The senior from San Antonio went 11-for-22 (.500) at the plate, scoring seven runs and belting five RBIs to leas the second ranked Rattlers to a 7-1 mark.
In the circle, Kling went 4-0 with a pair of shutouts. She gave up just two earned runs in 23 innings pitched to compile a 0.61 ERA.
The first team All-American and reigning Honda Award winner gave up just two hits in a complete game 8-0 win over North Dakota. Kling also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.
Kling struck out seven in a five-inning, 9-1 conference win over Oklahoma Panhandle, and again went 2-for-3 at the plate. She allowed just one hit in a run-rule victory over Northwest Missouri while scattering seven hits in a 4-2 victory over William Woods.
On the season, Kling is hitting a .414 clip. She is 11-1 with a 1.19 ERA.
