Lake Forest first baseman Shelby Neill has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week for the week ending April 8, the association announced Wednesday. Neill helped her team to a 3-1 week that improved the Foresters' overall record to 7-9. 

The Manitou Beach, Mich., native was 2-for-4 in the week's opener, a 7-5 Lake Forest victory over Wheaton College (IL). She hit her first career home run – a two-run shot – in the top of the sixth inning to put the Foresters ahead by three. Neill also drove in two runs in game two as Lake Forest fell 5-4. She bunted in the game's first run in the top of the first inning and then doubled in another in the third. 

Against Illinois College, Neill went 1-for-3 with a double in the opening game, an 8-4 victory. In the second game of the doubleheader, she was a perfect 5-for-5 with two doubles and nine RBIs in a 17-10 Forester victory. 

For the week, Neill batted 9-for-15 for a .600 average, with four doubles, two home runs, and 13 RBIs. She is now hitting .442 on the season and leads the team with 17 RBIs.
