Laurel Sagartz of Washington-St. Louis Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week

Laurel Sagartz of Washington-St. Louis has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III Player of the Week for the week ending April 29, the association announced Wednesday. The senior pitcher led the 15th-ranked Bears to a 4-0 week that capped an 18-game win streak to end the regular season.
Sagartz threw her fourth perfect game and eighth no-hitter of her career in an 8-0 win over Westminster College on April 24. For the week, she gave up only four hits in 16 innings of work and struck out 29. She also batted .556 with five hits and four RBIs.
The Albuquerque, N.M., native is 19-1 on the season season with a Division III-best 0.31 ERA, while striking out a school-record 249 batters in 133.2 innings of work. Her career ERA of 0.67 ranks third in Division III history, while the 794 strikeouts rank 10th.
