SALEM, Va. — Sunday’s action has resumed at the NCAA Division III National Championship following a three and a half hour delay due to lightning strikes in the area.
Action was halted around 1:23 p.m. EDT due to a series of scattered thunderstorms surrounding the Salem, Va., area. Rain never fell on the James I. Moyer Sports Complex, but a series of lightning strikes in nearby areas were enough to cause the lengthy delay.
Sunday’s first game of the day was called in the middle of the fifth inning with Salisbury on top of Wheaton 7-0 in an elimination game.
