RALEIGH, N.C. -- Linfield started the scoring early and capitalized on some mistakes to chip out a 6-1 win over Williams in an elimination game on day two of the Division III national tournament.
After a scoreless first inning, Linfield opened the scoring in the top of the second after Bethany Dobie reached on a Margaret Ryan walk, one of nine Linfield free passes on the day. Dobie would eventually score on a Lisa Smith walk.

Williams would fight back in the bottom half of the inning, with Morgan Simpson scoring its only run of the game after a Linfield error.
Linfield built its its cushion in the fifth with two unearned runs fueled by two Williams errors.
The Wildcats closed out the scoring in the top half of the seventh, again helped by a struggling Williams defense.
For the game, Attleberger led the Wildcats with two hits, a walk and two runs scored, while Amy Hammons contributed two RBIs.
From the rubber, Kendra Strahm and Brittany Miller combined for the seven-hit victory, with starter Strahm the official winner.
