STARKVILLE, Miss. - Another week in Division III softball brings the same results, as Linfield's streak as the No. 1 team in the NFCA Top 25 Poll now reaches 17 straight, the association has announced. The last time a team other than the Wildcats sat atop the poll was the final poll of the 2010 season, and Linfield was No. 2. After a 10-0 start this year, the Wildcats received all eight first place votes to maintain its hold of the No. 1 spot.
After its first loss of the season, previous No. Texas-Tyler drops three spots, moving up the remainder of the top five. Luther is now No. 2 at 4-0, while No. 3 Eastern Connecticut has yet to play. The Warriors, who were picked to to finish No. 1 in the preseason Little East Conference, open March 19. Emory, after starting 15-1, is now No. 4.
