HOUSTON – Lock Haven put up three runs and Kristen Erb earned her 42nd pitching victory of the season as the Lady Eagles eliminated C.W. Post from NCAA Championship play with a 3-0 victory on Thursday afternoon at Memorial Park.
Lock Haven (48-7) advances to play the loser of tonight’s Humboldt State-Emporia State game on Friday at 12:30 pm. C.W. Post completes its season with a record of 48-16.
After playing six scoreless innings in their first game of the tournament, Lock Haven scored quickly in today’s losers bracket match-up. The Lady Eagles leadoff hitter, left fielder Julia Popovich, reached on a strikeout-wild pitch, went to second on a sacrifice and third on a ground out before scoring on a second wild pitch.
C.W. Post pitcher Samantha Yodowitz was twirling a no-hitter for four and a third innings before Devin Glezen connected on her second home run in as many days to give Lock Haven a 2-0 lead after five innings of play.
A third run came across in the bottom of the sixth inning for Lock Haven as third baseman Sarah Norris singled with one out in the inning, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on an RBI single to left center by Lady Eagles catcher Amanda Roosa for the 3-0 lead after six innings of play.
Yodowitz took the loss for the Pioneers, finishing the season with a 30-8 record. She allowed four hits striking out five and walking one in the game.
For Lock Haven, Kristen Erb improved to 42-7 on the season, scattering five hits, striking out seven and walking one in the game.
