2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Cal JC All-America Teams 

Mt. San Antonio College and Diablo Valley College each led their respective divisions as the 2007 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Cal JC All-America Teams were announced Thursday by the association. 

Mt. San Antonio tallied four selections to pace the South Team. Kadie Baldwin earned an outfield selection after hitting .477 with 15 doubles, 12 triples, two home runs and 46 RBIs. 

Utility player Mandy Pongs, infielder Francesca Gonzales and catcher Nichole Whaley all joined Baldwin on the South squad. 

Pongs enjoyed a .408 year at the plate, tying Baldwin in doubles while notching 10 triples, nine home runs and 41 RBIs. 

Gonzales paced the squad with an impressive .533 batting average that included a team-leading 17 doubles, 15 home runs and 59 RBIs. She also led the squad in runs scored with 48 on the campaign. 

Whaley hit .374 for Mt. San Antonio, claiming a trio of doubles and two triples to go along with nine home runs and 25 RBIs. 

Cypress followed immediately behind Mt. San Antonio in the South with three selections. Sophomore Alyssa Gutierrez earned the pitcher’s spot, while Ashley Boyd and Katie Cornelison claimed places on the infield. 

Gutierrez put together a 31-4 year in the circle, compiling a 0.35 ERA as she allowed 11 runs and struck out 227 over 219 innings. Cornelison hit .399 on the season with 12 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 37 RBIs, while Boyd batted at a .373 clip with 18 doubles and 28 runs batted in. 

Keri Franks paced Diablo Valley’s trio of North all-Americans. The Diamond Sports Catcher of the Year earned the accolade after hitting .346 with seven doubles, three triples, a home run and 31 RBIs. 

Infielder Dani Lopez joined her teammate on the squad after she hit .411 for her sophomore campaign with 17 doubles, nine home runs and 47 RBIs. She also scored 54 runs for Diablo Valley. Shelby McElvain earned outfield accolades after hitting a team-leading .430 for the year. She also paced the squad with 12 round-trippers and 54 RBIs while scoring 52 times. 

Sacramento City College, College of the Siskiyous and Sierra College each had a pair of players named to the North squad. 

Aly Henderson of Shasta College garnered the adidas Golden Shoe Award for base-running after successfully swiping all 47 of her stolen-base attempts.
